One Kidney Lighter

On January 30th, one week before Addilyn's 1st birthday she went in for surgery to remove her right kidney, duplicate ureters, and to fix a pocket that had formed on her bladder. We knew from the time she was born that surgery was most likely a possibility, but we never thought it would be so soon. It never really hit me until until the day before she went in when my mom called and was reassuring me that everything would be okay. The night before, George and my Dad gave her a priesthood blessing and I know so many prayers were being said on her behalf. The next morning we checked in to the hospital at 6 am and I'll let the pictures tell the rest.

This is before surgery. Addilyn got her own little hospital gown and they even gave her a teddy bear, but she was more interested in pushing the nurses button.

Mommy and Addi checking out her gown.

George keeping her distracted by reading her favorite book, "Go Dog Go!"

Addilyn tried to escape several times. She enjoyed showing off to all the nurses who had to come and check her out.

Addilyn was so tired and knew that something was coming. Both of them just look so sad.

Mom's goodbye just before they whisked her away. Actually they let me carry her to the farthest point they could. It was hard to let her go.

Addilyn coming out of anesthesia. She was miserable and you could tell.

She was in and out of sleep for most of the day.

Grandma and Grandpa Luttmer came to visit her in the hospital . They brought her balloons and lots of goodies.

That night she threw up all over, hence the new gown and new IV with "bee" wrapping.

Just before leaving the hospital. We were all ready to go home!

Addilyn's battle wound. Really, her skin is so dark you can barely see it.

We are so grateful to our Heavenly Father for the many answered prayers and what a blessing it is to have the priesthood in our home. We had a wonderful doctor who did an excellent job and so much support from family and friends. We are so grateful and blessed that Addilyn is healthy and continuously blessing our lives.
