It's racing season once again and my Dad is back in the driver's seat. This is my Dad's third year of racing and we're hoping the "third year is the charm" and I think we've gotten off to a great start.

This is George and Addi Saturday morning before the race. I asked George to put Addi down for a nap and this was the end result.

My Dad and his pit crew (George, Timmy-my brother-in-law, and Ryan-my brother) prepping the truck before heading to the race track.

Loading the truck on the trailer. As you can see, George still hasn't learned quite how to do it. He likes to observe.

After all the guys left, my sister brought her two girls up to my parents' house so they could play with Addi. This is Addi and Kaylee looking at the dog outside the door.

Just before my Mom, Addi, and I were about to leave for the races we got a phone call informing us that my little brother Ryan would be racing in the Hornet racing class. My Mom was not happy about having to worry about him too. The track owner wanted more cars in the race and he had an extra truck and so here he is, Ryan racing for his very first time. This is the heat race, which is kind of like a pre-race with only half the cars, but there were only three cars total so all of them raced.
Ryan racing in the main event. He placed second in both the heat and the main. Not too bad for a first-timer and he's already talking about how to improve for the next time...if there is one.

My Dad qualified with the second fastest time.

Beginning of my Dad's heat race. He finished in third place, almost second.

Main Event Race - 40 laps

My Dad was unable to get around the two trucks in front of him for probably half the race. Neither one could pass the other which blocked the trucks behind them. Eventually he was able to pass and took off from there trying to catch up to the trucks in front of him.

My Dad gained a lot of time, pretty quickly and battled for third just before the finish line. He finished in fourth, but could have been battling with the leader if he hadn't gotten stuck in the pack.

We were here!

My Dad and Addi after the race. Not a very good pic, but it was the best one I got. It was getting cold and Addi was ready to go home. My Dad did an awesome job racing and we had a lot of fun! It was a night of good, clean racing and the crew was pleased with how the night went. One down and a lot more to go...Faster grandpa! Faster!
